This year’s winter is going to be warm. I know it might sound surprising, but it is only for the northern and western U.S., Alaska and Hawaii. Since El Nino has been recognized, the planet has been warming up. Some Scientists theorize through studies that by 2187 the world is going to be a desert. Well, even though that might be 169 years in the future, we can still stop it. You’re probably thinking “What is this guy saying? That’s impossible!” I know it is, but in the future it might not be.
The Aftermath
Hurricane Michael was a mess. It destroyed the Panama City Florida. The storm surge was outrageous. It washed cars, trees and homes away. Surprisingly, people stayed there instead of leaving the areas that were predicted to be hit. When the hurricane touched land it was a category 4 then downgraded to a tropical storm. I was happy to hear not that many people died but saddened by the citizens that passed. Now we are probably going through the last couple of hurricanes for this season.
Michael
Hurricane Michael has struck the south with a 9 to 13 feet storm surge. It is moving through Georgia as we speak. The hurricane is a category 4 . The storm made landfall today at 3pm and is rapidly moving on the east coast. There is a tornado warning in Atlanta and possibly a flash flood warning. The areas that will be affected are most likely downtown Atlanta and Buckhead. The wind speeds are 155 mph and has already destroyed thousands of homes.
TSUNAMI!
Last week in Indonesia a tsunami wiped out a city by the coast. It killed hundreds of people and destroyed thousands of building. The Officials are still looking for people lost in the rubble and recovering lost items.
The Destruction of the Past
This summer has been the strongest summer for developing hurricanes. Many homes have been destroyed along with numerous buildings. The count of people that died have been outrageous. Hurricane Florence was a pretty strong hurricane that hit North Carolina and South Carolina. The typhoon that struck Hong Kong and China was the strongest typhoon that ever hit that area. Hong Kong has never even experienced a typhoon this fierce. The craziest thing was that North Carolina and South Carolina when hurricane Florence approached most people had left these areas and barely anyone remained behind. This summer the hurricanes estimated cost $265 billion in damages during a year that shattered all records for U.S. economic losses due to severe weather. We are sure that more hurricanes and tropical storms will develop due to potential warming of the planet.
The Strongest Typhoon Ever
Typhoon Mangkhut is the strongest Typhoon this year to hit the Philippines. It is on the way to China. People are horrified about the Typhoon it was the strongest one that ever hit Hong Kong. There has been couple of landslides reported and there will be more to come CBS said from the amount of rain that has been falling. 49 deaths have been reported. This video shows the havoc hitting China.
A WINDY DAY?
Storm Surge
Hurricane Florence has grown to a storm surge but the rain keeps on falling. The Governor said, “We haven’t seen this much rain ever before. It’s worse then Matthew.” Also he said the citizens in the areas should stay in there house’s because the water is still to high. The storm has downgraded to a tropical depression but is still nasty .
Hurricane Florence
Florence has become so strong that it will effect North Carolina . The storm has grown massively over the days it has approached the east coast . Most residents have evacuated the areas that are going to be hit but some might stay and are trying to make the best protection they can so hopefully it won’t destroy their homes. It is expected to grow stronger and then it will be the biggest hurricane in North Carolina’s history . It will be most likely to make land fall in the next four days.
Tropical Storm
September 9 2018 Tropical storm Helene, Florence and Iscaa might develop a direction, making one of the tropical storms come towards Maine. Different storm stations are watching these storms carefully and I'm looking at different diagrams of these storms. I'm concerned about landfall in New England but I'll keep on observing their movement and I'll give you further notice in a couple of days.
The Fire Rages On
2018 September 4, A fire in California burning over twenty five percent of land has made it the most devastating wild fire in a 10 year average. Mostly these fires are man-made, but forest fires can also start by a tree getting struck in a storm and its' sparks ignite the dry grass or bush near by. In some cases, there might not be a bush so it has to be perfect timing for it to happen. Populations of people have had to move and that is sad for that to happen, but it was a order from the government so they had no choice.
Trapped By Heat!
August 27 2018 Baltimore and Washington were being trapped by a massive heat wave. The areas that were trapped by heat were 20 degrees hotter than usual. The college students that volunteered from Portland state university were trying to figure out all the different areas that were the hottest in Baltimore and Washington. They all looked at maps and heat diagrams then they went to try and see what it felt like to be in the areas that were 20 degrees hotter. When they got to the areas that were hotter it was in a populated area so when they were asking the people who were in the heat they found more" No's" then "Yes's" and the "NO's" were from the heat because it made the citizens cranky.
Different Conditions Today Across The United States
There are dangerous conditions today for the US: A Red Flag warning in Wyoming and a heat advisory along the east coast. There is a flash flood warning and flash flood watch for Springfield Mo. Closer to home, here in Maine, there is rare fire watch in Caribou Me and it will possibly stop by the time the severe thunderstorms expected to move in today throughout Carbiou.
The Dust from the Saharan Desert
I find it amazing how dust from the Saharan desert made it over to the Caribbean and Texas . It became a national pollution day from the pollution effecting the air making hazardous breathing conditions for Texas. Haze was shown from GOES-16 geostationary satellite sitting 22 thousand miles above the planet . Every year a plume of dust spreads across the atlantic ocean and it is not uncommon. In fact hundreds of millions of soil comes from the Saharan desert a year.
